Established by Colorado based dance educator and choreographer Vivian Kim, MFA, Vōx Dance Collective is a professional concert dance company housed at the Bancroft Street Market in Omaha, NE. Vōx Dance Co. was created with the intent to challenge the narratives derivative of the current socio-political and socio-economic issues surrounding us.

Vōx Dance Co. seeks to present quality, high-energy and thought provoking works to the Omaha + Lincoln, Nebraska area through the modality of Contemporary-Modern dance. Our hope is to disrupt the implicit biases inherently present in ourselves and our society, and provoke honest, authentic reactions from performers, collaborators and audience members alike in order to change our perceptions of people and reality.

Vivian Kim

Founder + Executive Directer

VIvian Kim is choreographer, dance educator and performer based in Colorado. She graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) with her Bachelor of Arts in Dance in 2014. Most recently, Vivian received her Master of Fine Arts in Dance with a secondary emphasis in the Alexander Technique from the University of Colorado Boulder (CU). During her time at CU, Vivian had the opportunity to train, study, and work with Helanius J. Wilkins, Rennie Harris, Larry Southall, Gesel Mason, Nada Diachenko, Gerald Casel and many others.

Since graduation, Vivian has stepped into many teaching roles at various institutions within the Denver/Boulder area: Denver School of the Arts, Program Director of the All Styles Program and Instructor at Block 1750, adjunct instructor at Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) and at the University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL), to name a few. In addition to teaching, Vivian co-directs her two dance companies, VisKosity Dance Collective (Boulder, CO) and her newly founded Nebraska-based company Vōx Dance Collective.

Outside of her director/teacher role, Vivian trains in House and Hip-Hop with Rennie Harris in his Denver-based company Grassroots Project and in popping with Dassy Lee (Femme Fatale, So You Think You Can Dance Season 14).

As a choreographer, Vivian strives to dismantle ideologies crafted by non-Asian identifying peoples by emphasizing the importance of adversities and racism towards Asian people in the topic of race relations in the United States. Much of her work is a marriage of personal narrative and experience with research, news, interviews, and other external components. Her work has been presented in various venues in Denver and Boulder, Cincinnati OH, Lincoln NE, and Omaha NE.
